I found these brilliant little cupcake measuring cups in London a couple of weeks ago (I can finally make some of the American recipes I have now without having to faff about with converting everything to weight measurements first) and I have been just itching to use them ever since.
I finally got a chance to make these little pink cupcakes and they were scrummy. It was also my first attempt at icing with a piping bag...not as easy as it looks! The first one I tried was an absolute disgrace, but they got steadily less awful so that by the time I got to the last couple of cakes the icing was almost passable.
I suppose that means I will just have to keep making cakes to ice until I get them perfect...what a hardship.

So cute! I still find American measurements so much easier. Who wants to get out a scale?

I love piping icing onto cupcakes. But I'm not terribly good at it yet either. :)

Can you please tell me which metallic thread you used to stitch the bee? Thanks.

I use a thread called "Glista" by Stancraft (in gold). I don't think it is specifically meant for hand embroidery as it comes on a reel and works with sewing machines too, but it is what I found in my local haberdashery when I started stitching and I liked the colour better than any of the stranded threads. Any metallic gold you can find will do though.
If you struggle to get hold of that specific thread where you are, I know that Kreinik, DMC and Anchor all make metallic threads though I haven't used any of them myself so can't vouch for whether or not they are any good!
Hope that helps.
