I have been wanting to design another big pattern for a while now and since I am missing baking an awful lot (sadly I just don't have time at the moment) I thought I would combine my two favourite things to do. Hence, baking + embroidery = this rather enormous cupcake!
I always stitch my patterns in black first as that way you can really see how they work, but I think this would look lovely in a really pale peachy pink made up into a cushion or something. Though it took rather a long time to finish and my mind is already buzzing with lots of other designs that I can't wait to get started on so I think the cushion will have to wait.
The pattern is now in the shop so if you want to try it out for yourself I would love to see what you come up with!
Happy weekend,
Delilah x

Hi Delilah
I've just bought your lovely cupcake pattern. I'm wanting to buy some thread - possibly the anchor standard cotton but I'm unsure how long one is, do you know? Also how many strands have you worked with for the black version. I would appreciate your advice as I'm eager to get going with it :-)

Hi Claire, thanks for your order! I use Anchor stranded cotton threads and a standard skein is 8m long - that's the way most craft shops sell it. I used 3 strands to stitch this version on 32-count evenweave, but would use 4 strands for 28-count evenweave or 14-count aida. I hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hi, you mentioned that your cupcake might look great stitched in a pale peach colour which I do too! :-) But what evenweave colour would you use with this? x

Hi Claire! I would either go for a cream like in this photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/whatdelilahdid/3933534137/, or a pale grey or mocha brown since I prefer more muted colours and they would stop it from looking too sugary. Or if you want it to be kitsch, you could go for a mint green or similar to make it pop? Would love to see pictures if you do end up stitching it!
