My dear friend Danielle got married a few weeks ago in France and I spent the preceding month feverishly stitching up these two hoops as a gift. I always forget just how long they take to make and must admit I ended up cutting it rather fine!
I finished just in time to take a few quick pictures in the dwindling light though so that I could show you. For the short time they were on my wall it was almost like having my friends here with me, which is a treat since they now live in France and I get to see them far less often than I would like.
Danielle sent me this picture today of the cameos in their happy new home, pinned to her beautiful old map (which incidentally I really want for my own house!). I am really pleased with how they turned out - it is always a worry when you make a gift for somebody that they will open it and think "what on earth is that monstrosity?!", but I thought it was a gift that I would like to receive myself and they went down very well. If I ever get married can somebody please make some for me?
Bon soir,
Delilah x
Really was one of the best pressies we received.
LOVE them both.
Merci beaucoup x

Delilah, your tailor's mannequin is so lovely! Where did you get it from? I've been looking for one like that for ages!

Thanks Lucy - I know I got it from somewhere online about ten years ago but I can't for the life of me remember where...I have googled it to try and jog my memory and trawled through all my old emails to find a receipt but have not managed to dig anything up, I'm so sorry! I know I searched for "dress form" at the time as "mannequin" mainly came up with shop window dummies, but beyond that I'm really not sure where it was. I know how infuriating it is when you see something and can't track it down, so if I have a lightbulb moment and remember I promise I will let you know!
