Because I design embroidery for a living I have never felt the need to stitch other people's patterns before, but the moment Nicole released her Most Excellent Party Bear pattern I knew I needed it in my life and snapped it up instantly. How I love him so! I wasn't sure when I would get to make him, but then one of my friends helpfully had a baby so I made a few alterations and turned the pattern into what I think might just be the cutest birth sampler ever made.
I think this level of cuteness might just kill me! Nicole's original design had different patterns in the balloons which I switched for the date of birth and baby name initials. A perfect fit. There is also fur around the outline of the bear on the original, but I just loved the clean lines when I had finished the outline and didn't feel like he needed anything else so I kept my version really simple.
I made that little stork card below too. I was thinking about maybe adding it as a printable download to the shop... I'm not sure yet. I think it's something I might branch into if I get a spare chunk of time. I always feel that there is a major overload of pink when a baby girl arrives, so I wanted to do something that was still pretty but a little unusual and less sugary than usual. It would work beautifully for a boy too. I think more babies may be getting this little package from me in the future.
If you have fallen as hard as I did for this charming bear you can find the pattern at Nicole's shop Follow the White Bunny. Beautiful work Nicole - I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
